Squid plastic for vacuum sealing

19 Oct 2017

Although it may sound strange, squids are an interesting ingredient to produce new materials. In UPV/EHU (Basque University), BIOMAT research group is looking for solutions for plastic waste. They are developing bioplastics, biodegradable materials created from squid gladius and even hen fethers. Among other uses, these bioplastics can be used to vacuum seal food. We have seen it on the scientific outreach program Teknopolis (EITB chain).

In the laboratory, BIOMAT counts on a Sammic vacuum sealer. Thanks for relying on Sammic! #TheRightChoice
